ABOUT
Hello, I'm Christy, an abstract artist nestled in the heart of Southern California. My journey is a tapestry woven from a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and a life rich with diverse experiences, from the inspiring women who introduced me to painting to the myriad cultures I've encountered through my travels. For over two decades, the Pacific Coast's serene beauty has been my muse, its tranquil whispers echoing through my work.
In my studio, I blend traditional and unconventional materials— paper, clay, marble dust, netting, fabrics, sand, and even twigs and leaves from my own garden. Each piece begins with a calm, muted palette, building layers of texture and form that invite the viewer into a serene dialogue. Recently, l've been captivated by the alchemy of oxidation, introducing metals that, through chemical transformation, reveal organic, evolving hues and textures.
Incorporating elements like sand and ocean water infuses my art with a tangible essence of the sea, grounding each creation in the natural world.
Art, for me, has been a sanctuary-a path from adversity to expression, transforming pain into purpose.
With every brushstroke, I seek solace, and my deepest hope is that my work offers you a moment of peace, a space to pause, reflect, and find tranquility amidst the chaos.
