ABOUT

Christy Linton is an artist whose formal education is a degree in Bachelor of Fine Arts, but life's education of a diverse upbringing, exposure to painting through the women in her life and fortunate to have traveled and experienced many different cultures, have all truly broadened her creative mind. Living along the Pacific Coast for over 20 years evokes a deep tranquil connection that drives Christy to capture that feeling forever in her artwork. Her process typically begins with a subtle calm color palette, then choosing texture with either paper, clay, marble dust, netting, fabrics, sand, acrylic mediums and sometimes twigs and leaves from her yard. The subject of each piece is decided upon with either an intuitive evolution or one in which it is planned from a memory, photo or commissioned. Sand and ocean water are mixed in with every painting for a tangible gift from the sea. There is a harmonious blend of techniques,

conventional and nonconventional, building transparent layering, shapes, lines and plays on light. Her latest technique with oxidation is one of great excitement, as she discovers new ways to incorporate the colors and textures that appear with this chemical process.

The journey that brought Christy back to her artistic roots

was one of transforming suffering, tragedy and pain into something meaningful,

which has led to a life of art therapy, fulfillment and

gratitude. Art was quite literally her only reprieve at one point and she truly believes it was painting that saved her.

Artist’s Statement:

“Each and every step of my process I am in an attempt to sooth my soul. So my greatest hope is for you, the viewer to find that place of serenity, to escape and to wonder.”
