CHRISTY LINTON ART
Christy Linton is a contemporary abstract painter with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design. Her early years were shaped by her grandmothers beautiful paintings and influenced by constant movement as the daughter of a Navy family, growing up all over the world. This ever-changing backdrop gave her a deep appreciation for nature's rhythms, the textures of place, and the fleeting beauty found in imperfection. Her work draws from nature and the plentiful historical gilding practices. Christy's forever deep fascination with ancient artisans and their decorative painting traditions, where gold, mineral pigments, and architectural ornament were softened by time and atmosphere. Using layered textures, metallic leaf, and patina processes, that allow chemistry and oxidation to participate in the evolution of the surface. The interplay of gold and blue toned patina’s sometimes references water, while the burnt ember palette created from chemicals, reflects the light and imperfection. Christy is on an ever evolving journey striving to create paintings that feel less constructed than uncovered. Her work is meant to shift with the changing light throughout the day, as you, the viewer move and as time passes. This is the magical transition from decorative to emotional.
