Artist Statement

My paintings explore the space between what is seen and what is felt. Working with layered acrylic, mineral texture, metallic elements, charcoal, pastel, oil stick, and oxidized metal leaf, I build abstract surfaces that respond to both light and time. Oxidation is especially important to my process. Rather than fully controlling the outcome, I create conditions for transformation and allow the materials to develop their own marks, imperfections, and histories.

Light becomes another medium within the work. Reflective and light-reactive materials shift as daylight changes and as the viewer moves through a space. From a distance, a painting may feel quiet and atmospheric; up close, layers, fractures, metallic passages, and subtle forms begin to emerge.

I am drawn to the rhythms of nature, where water, erosion, weathering, and the traces left by time leave their mark. I am less interested in depicting a specific place than in creating an emotional experience. I want each painting to remain open enough for viewers to discover something personal within it: a memory, landscape, feeling, or form that belongs uniquely to them.
