Honesty is a self portrait based on the artists inner growth in search of self worth, just like building the painting from graphite, charcoal, pastel, acrylic, ink and gold leaf, the artist is building her self worth. An encaustic wax "look" was used to give transparency and add great depth, which can only be fully appreciated in person. Drips and drips building up with texture upon texture, a "cutting away" of medium to reveal underpainting, are all part of this process of revealing the honesty within oneself.  
Each self portrait has a poem written by the artist explaining her feelings during the process of this work.
